MOTION CAPTURE PLATFORMS
OpenCap Validation during the Golf Swing
The novel 3D coordinate system reconstruction computer vision technology has impacted the development of real-world motion capture applications by its capability of providing a full range of movement data. This study demonstrates the feasibility of this advanced technology applications in complex and rapid movement, like golf swing (under review).
Elder Activity Level Monitoring through Vibration Sensors
The theme of this study is to develop a ‘smart building’ and change the future of elderly care. My role was to support the ground truth 3D motion capture system gait analysis, and they (the group leading this project) estimated the joint angles using the signals from vibration sensors embedded in the floor, anthropometric data, and AI against the 3D motion capture system. This study demonstrates that the vibration sensors estimate the 12 critical joint angles in walking and achieve an average mean absolute error of 3.9 degrees (J Eng Mech, 2025; IEEE J Biomed Health, 2024).

IMU Sensor Validation during the Golf Swing
Validated inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors against the ground-truth 3D motion capture system during the golf swings. We found that IMU can accurately measure trunk rotational kinematic variables. This study will advance the use of IMU sensors for practical applications, particularly for the measurement of rotational movements (Sensors, 2023).
