Sung Eun Kim

Sung Eun (CJ) Kim is a Researcher at Frontier Research Institute of Convergence Sports Science, Yonsei University in Korea. She earned a BS in Finance from the University of Florida in 2008 and a PhD in Sports Science (Biomechanics) from Yonsei University in 2018. Following her PhD, she worked at the Descente Shoe Research Division (DISC) in Busan, Korea, as a Research Engineer until joining Stanford University as a Postdoctoral Scholar in Orthopaedic Surgery from 2022 to 2024. While at Descente, she served as the Director of the Descente Sports Foundation and as a Consultant for Descente Golf. At Stanford University, she took on the role of Biomechanist for Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. She has also been selected as a principal investigator of the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) fellowship. As an elite athlete, Kim competed in the NCAA Division 1 national golf tournaments for the University of Florida women’s golf team from 2004 to 2008, receiving a full athletic scholarship. She has been a member of the US Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Class A professionals since 2010. Additionally, she was an announcer for JTBC Golf, a major golf television channel in Korea, from 2011 to 2012.
